Happy Halloween!!!!
Friday, October 31st, 2008

So, I had to bribe my daughter with food to a) get her into this costume and b) pose for a photo. She wasn't very happy about doing either but graciously conceded when given a spoonful of cream cheese. However, I was allowed ony ten seconds to take the pictures. I guess that's fair.
Who Does She Look Like?
Thursday, October 30th, 2008

I am convinced Anti-Beck snuck a bunch of her eggs into my ovaries while I was asleep. There is simply no other explanation. The expression is identical to all of my sister's childhood photos. I am very, very afraid.
Sasha at 16 Months
Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

This past month, it seems that Sasha has grown more mentally, verbally, and emotionally than any other period. Her vocab has increased to include great words like "boob" (I am starting the weaning process NOW- when the baby can ask for it in such a crude way and uses hard pokes to further emphasize her "need", she's done) and "poo". Sasha is fascinated by dog and cat feces and would love nothing more than to examine it in her grubby hands (and maybe sneak a taste). On our walks, if she finds any, she isn't able to talk or focus on anything else but "poo, poo, poooooooooooooooooo...." She has now even started becoming interested in her own diaper. Yuck, yuck, yuck. I think a lot of her curiosity is goaded by my reaction but I do NOT want her handling the stuff.

When Sasha is bored, one of her favorite things to do is bring me things to put on her....usually it's 3- 5 swimsuits. She has also figured out that if I put on her hat and shoes, we are usually going somewhere fun like the park or out for a walk. As a result, she is constantly demanding that I put on her "Syooos" and "Aat". Unfortunately as soon as she gets out of the car, both are off in two seconds flat.
Sasha surprises me sometimes with her understanding. Yesterday, I told her we were going to put music on and she ran to the CD stand to help me load one in. I was in the kitchen when I mentioned it, so how did she know? Maybe the word "music"??? It makes me realize how careful I going to have to be about what I say from now on. I think she will be picking things up at a quicker rate. YIKES!

Sash has become quite serious about climbing onto everything (furniture, playground equipment), running as fast as she can away from me, and doing things HERSELF. Our daughter is convinced that she is perfectly capable of feeding herself with a fork or going down the 6ft slide solo and refuses to let me help. Very independent and stong willed already- sigh. And, a little naughty. We have spent a good portion of this month getting crayon out of various pieces of furniture. Jimmy and I have hidden most of the crayons up high but she still manages to find a ballpoint pen etc. She'll rummage through anything within reach....or pull up a chair to get to it. Two weeks ago, she used a chair to get to our computer and pried off a bunch of keys. My back was turned twenty seconds! It took me nearly an hour to get them all back on, too. It took all of my self-control not to mutter anything that could further expand Sasha's budding vocabulary.
The little miscreant has become a bully. She wants to poke and jab all of her friends. She better watch it our she is going to get clobbered sometime. We are now being forced into the next level of swim lessons because Sasha has tried to drown a few of the other babies. Next month's goal: learning about being gentle.

Still, our baby is the most loving of souls. She could kiss and hug all day long. When I am in her stranglehold, I feel pretty blessed.
