Contemplating Pulling Mommy's Hair

That's right, Ma, come a little closer. No, reason. Lookit how angelic I am. Seriously, no worries (evil chuckle).

Noone ever told me that you lose wads of hair four months after you give birth. Between that and my daughter's pinching, grasping fingers, I am going bald. There are clumps everywhere- I am quickly outpacing the cats in terms of shedding. I may be forced to use the remaining straggly strands to form a hideous combover. Jimmy'll love it.

Sasha at Five Months

teddybear

This past month, Sasha has been growing by leaps & bounds. And, I am not just talking weight-wise although my mom keeps commenting that our little bear is getting rather plump. She's just like me and loves to eat (we are still working on spacing out the feedings to every three hours)! Besides, I love those chubby thighs- so nice to nibble!

Sasha has started sitting up by herself (as seen below). She is also grabbing for everything now. Hair, eyeglasses, silverware, dinner plates, the cats, plants, electrical cords....as she sees it, nothing should be off limits. Sasha especially LOVES paper, first crumpling, then cramming it into her mouth. We try to keep her from doing the latter because of all the chemicals which does not make her super happy. Sasha prefers free reign and no limits. When our daughter gets angry with me (taking away the sharp knife, not getting out the boob fast enough, making her take ANOTHER nap), she will pinch me either on my neck or the soft underside of my upper arm. I don't think she realizes how much it &*&$%# hurts! When will she understand the word, "gentle"????

grumps

Sasha still loves Freddy the Firefly but his rival is The Learning Dog from her Aunt Lois. When you press any part of the puppy, he will sing or tell you about colors, numbers, and parts of the body. I have memorized all of his phrases as I have heard them ad infinitum. "I love hugs!" "You're my fwwwiiieeend!" The lady who does the voice for this mutt sounds like she is trying out from a Broadway musical. Nobody should try to belt out the ABC's. I worry that the vocalist wanted to make that song "her own".

Sasha now loves swings! It started with the crappy, soon-to- be-recalled version at the kiddie center at L.A. Fitness but has expanded to the one Jimmy's friend lent us ( a really nice upscale product). She will swing happily for up to ten minutes at a time!!!

Our junebug is becoming more and more interactive. Her face lights up in a big ole' grin when she sees her Maw and Paw. She loves people and is happiest when getting tons of attention at the grocery store or in yoga. She'll "talk" to anyone....non-stop. The Pterodactyl certainly likes to make herself heard....she can be the loudest in ANY conversation. Expect to hear background squawks when you call!

I don't want to write too much about Sasha's sleeping habits because it is just too depressing. If she makes it through an hour, I am impressed. I can't blame this behavior on the head cold she suffered through a few weeks ago because that has come and passed. We may get tough with our baby soon. She can't ride on those cute looks forvever.

sitting up

Four days ago, Sasha has learned a new trick!!! Sitting is fun especially because it makes grabbing toys easier! Now, if she could just figure out how to sleep for more than an hour or two at a time. Or, am I just being a pushy mama??? Her head cold is over so no more excuses for getting up 478634874638 times in the middle of the night. And, spoiled baby does not ALWAYS need to be rocked backed to bed.
