On a Big Chair

After months and months of only having two bottom teeth, Sasha has finally got four uppers poking out from her pink gums! We were starting to get worried because our daughter is hideously late getting teeth. I've had to put up with a lot of jokes about baby dentures, etc. Our pediatrician even suggested going to a pediatric dentist "just to make sure." I couldn't get any pictures of them but I will next month. Maybe she will be symmetrical and get two more bottom teeth by then.

17months

Sasha loves the outdoors. Everyday I hear, "Ou'!!! Ou'!!!" at least a hundred times a day. Since it is no longer 173868343468 degrees outside, I am more willing to watch my biscuit roll around in dirt. One of our favorite daily rituals is the walk to check the mail. While the boxes are just around the corner of our block, it takes us a good thirty minutes to return with our mail. Sasha finds it important to point out the houses with dogs and to identify each piece of poo she might see along the way. Then she has to open and close the door to the mailbox a billion times. Oh, and I can't forget all the rocks that need to be examined. There are the joggers who need to be flagged down by screaming, "HIIIIIIIIII!!!!!"

Outside

In bad news, Sasha has learned to open doors...all doors. If I lock the bathroom to take a nice shower, she throws a tantrum. I've tried explaining to her that I don't need an audience while on the toilet but she remains unconvinced. She does adore slamming the door in my face (or Jimmy's or my mother-in-law's etc.), opening it two inches to see the reaction, and then banging it shut again. Repeat ad nauseum.

Hiding in the Pillows

Sasha is more prone to screaming if she doesn't get her way. She can feed herself! And, dress herself! And, use markers herself (why was I ever dumb enough to give my daughter markers????)! Independence, thy name is Katya Sasha Rubin! Still, she'll come over to meet and snuggle her head into my neck while gripping me tightly and whispering, "mamamamamamamamamaaaa". When I am caught in her hug and smelling her sweet baby smell, I feel awash with love.
