Smirking Sasha

I can't believe that in one month Sasha will be two! It's been two years since I was hormonal, humungous-bellied nutjob lumbering about on two swollen, water-retaining legs. Those good old days. And, I can't believe that I might want to do it again in the nearish future. The nausea, hideous weight gain, fatigue etc....should be fun.....Seriously, 98% of the time, Sasha was totally worth the trauma. Grin. Her "personality" continues to bloom. She has really developed fear of things this month. She gets startled by loud noises and is terrified of bugs. All bugs. She definitely doesn't have her father's all creatures are valuable. Our little murderer screams "Smoosh _______!!![insert fly, bug, bee, etc. here]" at the first sight of any insect even the benign one like the potato bug.

Sasha's Stickers

So, you see the above picture??? Picture it with stamps...specifically, 2 books of forever stamps she found in my purse while my back was turned. Try carefully peeling them off a squirming toddler who wants to remain decorated by her "stickers"...it's fun. I saved about 75% but had a few thoughts about mailing Sasha off to Timbucktu.

Sasha down the slide

We continue trying to keep up with Sasha. Now that the heat is beginning to creep up, we are forced to do more and more things indoors or early in the morning. She is still taking swimming lessons and received her very first ribbon ever!!!!!! I cried a little bit during the "award ceremony" made by a bored teenager. It was for being able to float on her back for more than ten seconds (the first step on the long journey to pool safety...sigh). I wanted to give an acceptance speech but Sasha was already running towards the showers (is that girl a teenager already? I have never seen a kid want to just stand under the stream of hot water for so long). Sasha tried to throw the ribbon in the trash but I saved it. Jimmy had to convince me not to have it framed so the ribbon is now in her baby book for posterity.

Sasha on her trike

This is one of Sasha's gifts we opened a tad early (with permission of course). Soon, it will be too hot to use outside so we wanted to do a few test runs. BTW, some applause, please, for me because I was the one who put the %$#@** trike together. The manufacturers decided not to actually have printed instructions but miniscule doodles with randomly placed arrows and a few abstract renderings of movement. Why do kids toys come with worst instructions? Anyway, Sasha LOVES her tricycle and we usually take her for a ride the first thing each morning. Yeah, she doesn't know how to pedal and refuses to try so we wheel her using the steering pole in back. This bike has become a bonafide stroller. Still, she is happy and quiet. Isn't that worth something???

Other stuff: Sasha's vocab is still increasing. Really into commands. Has begun to participate in story time and will even dance on occasion. She even has favorite songs. Sasha is now leaning towards books with plots. Her favorites include "Bear is Sleeping", "Marvin Wants More", and "Knuffle Bunny" among others. We usually read each 6- 10 times a day. Our daughter continues to potty train herself. She likes to pee pee every night in the potty. So from the late afternoon, Sash usually runs around nekkid for easier access...she is having a little difficulty always getting the pullups down in time. Food tastes haven't changed much. And, if she could she would swim 24/ 7. Our pool is now warm enough so I probably won't be getting hypothermia.

It's been good times.
