Lipstick baby

So, I was hardpressed this month to come up with photos of Sasha WITHOUT crud all over her face. It's not just that I don't do a good job wiping after meals, it's also the fact that toddlers like to get into things and smear whatever they might find (paint, markers, boogars, etc.) from cheek to cheek. It must be hardwired. And- I must be truthful- Sasha suffered a little accident which has added a garish scab across half her face. It is a little embarassing to go out in public as I invariably hear the gasps of, "What, dear lord, happened to that poor child?" Well, my little monkey likes to climb and despite many admonishments, she managed to get 3/4 of the way up our six foot kitty perch. As I ran across the room to grab her, she slipped and fell (hitting her face against the rough carpet material of the post on the way down). Forty minutes of screaming. I wish that incident would have stopped her from clambering up every object within sight....sigh.....as long as she doesn't get out of her crib. That is my biggest fear. I really, really like her being trapped.

Sasha likes to do everything by herself from eating to picking out her own clothes. While I can live with the garish clothes combinations, I would really like my daughter to allow me to help her use the eating utensils. But, if I even touch the spoon, she refuses to eat anymore. Sitting back and letting her slurp fistfuls of applesauce from her grimy hands is a torturous process. It's Sasha's way or no way. I can sympathize.....I never listen to my mom, either! Is this karmic revenge?

Eating Spaghetti

This past month has been a language explosion. She is finally putting two words together...usually to tell me or the Mu off (Sasha is really jealous of my little black cat and will freak is a paw even touches her dresser- so bizarre). My daughter isn't frivolous with words- she won't repeat after me or be a show pony in any way. She is only interested in saying things for her own benefit. Hence she has learned (although often barked at us with an unusual pronunciation) "gum", "cookie", "juice", "markers", "play- doh", "phone", "purse", & "outside". Next month will bring "credit card" & "chat rooms" I am sure.

Sasha drawing

This month, Sasha has gotten into Matchbox cars (never would have predicted this one) and Legos (both of which are really easy to trip over). Sasha likes to make super long towers out of her Legos. Woe to the person who accidentally breaks the chain. She is still into drawing (fingers crossed) & playing with the baby dolls (she actually puts them to bed and feeds them and wipes their bottoms...she also sent one of them to the corner after the doll "hit" Sasha). We are still working on the bullying (hitting and biting) and the tantrums. It really is a daily battle. We've given up on the snooping. No boundaries, that one.

Although Sasha is still a Daddy's girl, I am enjoying her antics. Even if we've been kicked out of the public library or knocked over massive quantities of fruit in the grocery store, most days are a blast with my sweet little girl.
