Sasha in the sky

We are still recovering from the craziness of the holidays. Sasha is just beginning to wind down from all the trips, presents, parties, etc. She sure misses Dads now that he has gone back to work. It was fun playing the parents off of each other, right? Who knew that 2 year olds could be such genius manipulators? The cunning! The strategy! Our New Year's resolution was to stay strong and present a united front. We broke that in less than a day. Well, we tried. Hopefully Lovey will be a little dumber or we will be less malleable.

The whole family went to San Diego for five days. Sasha had loads of fun playing in Grandma's jacuzzi and torturing the dogs. Our daughter gave them 43984398 treats every hour and insisted on holding the leash whilst "walking" them. Grandma had to put them in a chokehold so they wouldn't jerk Sasha over by going too fast. By the time we left, Ember and Bruno had massive diarrhea and were in a trembling in a state of nervous exhaustion. I like to think that deep down they miss her...or at least the crumbs down her front...

Sasha got spoiled present-wise. She's quite adept at the opening of gifts and even helped to unrwrap other people's presents. What a giver! She was lucky to have a celebration with each set of grandparents. Sasha may now believe that the entire month of December should be one long holiday of feasts and presents. Some of the most well-received gifts (besides the stamp set which did NOT end up all over Grandma's cream-colored leather couches, thank you very much) were a doctor's kit and Elmo bandaids. All of her dolls have received numerous physicals (so have I for that matter). I am lucky to have such a nurturing daughter although her placement of bandages leaves a bit to be desired.

Sasha continues to receive many compliments about her love and concern for babies. She likes nothing better than to hold, feed, or play with an infant. She frets when they cry and stares unabashedly when they need to have their diapers changed. She talks a lot about the baby in mommy's tummy and even hugs and kisses my belly. I am hoping these are good signs as to what her relationship with her sibling will be. Sure she's a little rough but as long as there is no jealousy....

sasha a little sulky

Sasha has picked up quite a few bad habits this month including snorting (a trick from her father). Big loud gruesome snorts. Between the booby squeezing, the toots and ensuing laughter, and poopy jokes, she is going to get kicked out of preschool for sure. We have only ourselves to blame. Maybe for next New Year's resolutions, we can assess and change the errors of our ways...remedial parenting classes, here we come!
