Sasha eating

This past month has been one of the most hectic I can remember. We bought a house and decided to move during the holiday season. Although I love, love, love our new house, there was so much entailed what with the closing, the repairs, the packing and unpacking, the cleaning, the organizing, and all those stupid little details. We are renting out our old house and so had to try to find renters in the midst of the craziness. Thank god Jimmy was on his holiday break and that we had so many friends and family who helped immeasurably (thank you, thank you)! We worked all day from 7 until midnight but it is 90% done (everybody wish us luck that this renter works out!!!!). Sasha, of course, was excited (bewildered) by the chaos. Still, she rose the challenge and tried to help out with the move as much as possible. Who knew she was a genius with unhooking electronics?

We are definitely getting settled into the new place. A few rooms have been painted, the roof repaired, and most everything is in working order. Sasha has adjusted well and so, surprisingly have the cats. Sadly, we decided not to take Kumquat, Mango, Grape, and Plum with us. We consulted several professionals and they advised us not to take feral cats out of their familiar environment. So, we trapped them, had them fixed, and let the kitties back out into the yard of our old place. We are hoping that our renters will occasionally feed them. I especially feel horrible for deserting Kumquat; she was such a sweet cat.

We went to San Diego for a few days to relax. I had a horrible cold so was pretty unpleasant to be around. Grandma and Sasha bonded; our baby doll got upset when my mom couldn't hold her or let Sasha sit in her lap. The dog got pretty jealous at all the attention our daughter was receiving. However, Ember also got a lot more treats because Sasha LOVED feeding the puppy. She also became pals with Bobby who did not (thank god) try to spray fake whipcream down her throat again. While we were there, Sasha got to try sledding at the Wild Animal Park (they shipped in a whole bunch of fake snow). I think she was a natural. She certainly seem unfazed by her first experience with "snow".

We had a lovely holiday season with both sets of parents. Ate too much delish food and got horribly spoiled with tons of presents. Sasha grew very adept at ripping open paper (even on gifts that weren't hers). I think she loved putting the used wrapping paper in the trash the most....or sorting the many beautiful outfits she received. Where does she get her organizational skills from??? Hmmm....

Oh, and for those interested in Sasha's monthly progress:

  2. Favorite words: No, Hurry, Mine, More, Up, Sit
  3. Has renamed the binky, "Mommy" (calling Dr. Freud!).
  4. Still obsessed with poo; we have to change her dollies 6- 10 times a day and she likes to poke the bums of our four cats and my mom's dogs while screaming, "Pooooooo".
  5. Favorite book: "Dogs" by Matthew Van Fleet
  6. Testing boundaries continuously
  7. Hates being stuck in the house
  8. Has become super picky in the past week. Refuses to eat foods she normally loves.
  9. Adores rummaging around in the trash
