Sasha at 22 Months
Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

We do not have a baby on our hands but a little fish who needs to be in the water 24/7. Sasha has discovered the beach and how she couldn't possibly live without it. While on our spring break, the little mermaid would scream two thousand times a day, "Beach! Beach! Beach!" I will not be the one to tell her that we live in a landlocked state. No way. Since coming back from our vacation, I have been able to mitigate her need to be immersed in water by taking her to her swim lessons (our pool can not open fast enough- May, will you hurry up and be here already???). Sasha has improved in swimming. She has started to love to dive for rings at the bottom of the pool (I have to propel her, mind you). It's the cutest thing to watch her pop up to the surface...chubby bellies are very bouyant!

Sasha's one track mind continues unabated. If she wants something (gum, gummy bear vitamins, cookies, juice), she'll repeat the word (at the top of her lungs) ad infinitum. I make the problem worse by giving in sometimes but really, I will have not a shred a sanity left if I hear the request, "Gum, peez. Gum, peez" a billion godzillion times every single day. At least my endurance to resist is building and she's saying, "please". That's something, right? Oh, and don't expect her to share her goodies, either. "Mine, mine, mine, mine..." I am allowed to chew up the piece of gum to make it soft for her (hard gum is "yucky"). Gross, huh? CPS would flinch over this but for us, apparently, swapping spit is no biggie.

Sasha loves to try on our clothes and to use our products (doesn't she fashion an adorable burka out of my sweatjacket??? Uberchic!!!). Our shoes are all over the house. She tries them on and shuffles around. I don't have any purses left as Sasha has claimed them all. To get her to hold still to brush her hair, I have to first put chapstick on her lips and let her smear lotion all over her belly/ face. She has dabbled with Daddy's shaving kit (we keep the razor away, thank you) and would paint her face fully with my makeup. How long does this phase go on? It has to stop by 15, right?

I am surprised by Sasha's memory. She remembered going on a carousel from three weeks earlier. Recollects a fall from six weeks ago. Coupled with the fact that her vocabulary is still growing like crazy, it might behoove me to start watching what I say!
This month has been so enjoyable with Sasha. Her antics are so fun to experience. Plus, she still loves to be held and snuggled.
